Myth: “If I’m a good Christian, then nothing bad will happen to me.”

Genesis 50:20

This isn’t what I asked for, thank you. I want my old life back.

The one where my parents were the perfect couple. Where I was the only one among my friends whose parents were still together. And seemingly still in love.

The one where I was voted most likely to succeed and everyone, right or wrong, envied my life because it seemed so perfect. And I believed it was.

I want to go back to the times when I knew You were involved in my life. The ones where I prayed and You answered. I talked to You, and You listened. The times when I knew You were alive. Loving. And on my side.

I want the life where all I had to do was show up for class, and I got good grades. Name a job opening, and I landed it squarely. Speak my needs, and my husband moved heaven and earth to meet them.

You Are Your Spouse's 'Angel'!

Written by Danny Gutierrez

As a child, do you remember watching Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse cartoons? Some of my favorite episodes were the ones where Donald found himself trying to impress Daisy by babysitting his three nephews, but they would drive him absolutely crazy!

He would plop down in frustration, and two figures would inevitably appear to give him advice: an angel on his right shoulder and a devil on his left. The angel would give him good advice, and the devil, bad.

Well, God has called us to be our spouse's "angel." We all make decisions every day, and the person who hopefully has the most influence our choices is our spouse.

So, when your spouse asks you for your opinion, are you most often "the angel" or "the little devil"? Do you give him or her solid advice based on God's Word, or do you say whatever sounds best at the moment?

The Two-Sided Secret of a Satisfying Marriage

Written by Mac Hammond

"My needs aren't being met." Once you and your spouse really start listening to each other, that is probably what you're going to hear.

It's the battle cry of 99 percent of the people who come to me for marriage counseling. Physical needs. Spiritual needs. Emotional and intellectual needs. Men and women both have them. God designed us that way.

God initially created man perfect and whole with all of the components of both the male and female personalities housed in one body of flesh called Adam. When God took woman out of man, it left gaps in each of them. Each became incomplete without the other.

Thus, ever since the Garden of Eden, men and women have needed each other. And when they come together in marriage, according to God's plan, those needs are met. At least, they are supposed to be met.

Don't Play the Game!

Written by Kenneth Copeland

"I receive not honour from men. But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?" (John 5:41-44).

Honor. Godly honor. It's the kind of honor that keeps its word and standard of integrity no matter what. It never fails—it always succeeds.

Every day, commitments of honor are required of you. You have choices to make regarding ethics in your job, disciplining your children, keeping your marriage strong—and it's hard.

Delivery from Darkness : Bringing postpartum depression out of the closet.

Delivery from Darkness

Bringing postpartum depression out of the closet.   by
Excerpted from Delivery from Darkness, A Jewish guide to prevention and treatment of postpartum depression.
"I Was Being Buried Alive," the author's personal account

I was irritable; I cried; I was exhausted, yet had trouble sleeping. Getting through each day seemed nearly impossible. My own children avoided me; my husband tiptoed around me. I was convinced that my family and the world would be better off without me.

Although I was a certified nurse midwife at that time, my lack of experience and understanding of postpartum depression (PPD) matched that of the average layperson and, unfortunately, most medical professionals. PPD was something that happened to "other" women who already had psychological problems.

Superwoman Is Dead

Superwoman Is Dead
Most mothers fight a constant battle between stress and guilt.

by Emuna Braverman

Many of us today have bought into the superwoman myth. We think we can do it all – careers, children, healthy marriages – and then we realize that we still need to sleep at night!

Spider Surprises & Spiritual Attacks

The other day I called my mom to see if she wanted to join me for lunch. She agreed to pick me up and then we surprised my two sisters, my grandmother, my nieces and my nephew who were already enjoying lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant.Spider Surprises & Spiritual Attacks encouragements for wives woman To My Husband siblings mom marriage fear enemy Encouragement Christian Wife Christian Husband Christian Community attacks Unveiled Wife  It was really nice to see everyone together! Sometime during the conversation my mom shouted out, “Did she tell you what happened yesterday?” Her tone made it sound like an interesting story.

My oldest sister’s eyes lit up as she begins to divulge a horrifying story. She was cleaning the drapes in her bedroom when a black thing fell from the top of the curtain, passing behind her shoulder; dust was also flying around, so she didn’t think twice about it.

Femininity is a gift God has designed women with that contrasts the design of men. There are differences in gender that are very distinct and those differences play a role in marriage.

I grew up with a twin brother as well as a rough-edged family environment. We played outside all of the time, we camped, fished, and enjoyed getting dirty. I was a “Tom-Boy” – embracing a tough side that had nothing to do with make-up, accessories, or other girly things.

I Am Not A Robot – A Wife Needs Adequate Rest

Guest post Thursday!!! This article is brought to you by Sarah Casterline. Sharing her testimony of getting married young, she also explains about the revelation she had of not being designed like a robot. God designed us to need adequate rest to function properly, a reminder we all need at times! Let Sarah know if her article impacted you, especially if you have experienced what she has! Enjoy!

We were married on June 5, 2010, right before we both turned 20 years old.
In the fall of 2010, I began my junior year and my husband began the second semester of his junior year (he was ahead of me at first). Thankfully, I have been able to keep my full-time job while taking online courses. My husband, however, can only work a part-time job because science classes and the labs that are required with them cannot be taken online. On top of this, we have also been the associate youth pastors and the worship pastors at our church.
